COXSWAIN SOLICITATION:
The rowing club is looking for individuals who would like to join the club as full time coxswains. Coxswains are members of the crew that steer the boats and provide commands, feedback, and direction to the rowers. The ideal coxswain candidate should be smaller in stature, able to fit in the coxswain compartment, with a weight around 130 pounds (give or take), have good communication skills, be mature & responsible, and be at least 16 years old.
Being a coxswain can be a challenging duty especially when sitting in a cold, wet boat at o’dark thirty in the morning. But the coxswain position does provide an opportunity to build personal skills, such as: becoming more assertive, developing coaching & leadership experience, learning boat handling skills, improving your decision making abilities, and being part of a team.
Approved candidates will receive training, instruction, and hands-on experience; free membership to the club which includes the use of the rowing machines during winter workouts; and the opportunity to participate in and join the rowing community in an active role.
If you are interested or would like more information on being a coxswain, then contact the club by email at info@lbvrc.org
